Illinois Central AAR Modified Design 40-foot steel boxcar

Resin Car Works has released a new HO scale resin freight car kit, an Illinois Central AAR modified design 40-foot steel-sheathed boxcar with square corner posts. Visit our website for kit details and the order form.

Starting in 1939, the Illinois Central began purchasing steel-sheathed 40-ft. single-door boxcars with an interior height of 10’-4”. Between 1939 and 1940, the IC purchased 5000 boxcars of this design before construction ended due to WW2 steel rationing. The first 3000 of these cars had square corner-post ends and are the focus of this kit.

This kit has a one-piece car body to ease assembly. Kits include Plano Models etched ladders; Yarmouth Model Works etched roof walk and etched supports; A-Line stirrups; Tichy AB brake set and Ajax hand brake hardware; assorted wire sizes and grabs; Precision Design Company decals; and the closest Tahoe Model Works truck type that is available. Couplers are not included. Kit 8.02 is $60, plus shipping.

We do not take kit orders via email. Please print out and complete the PDF order form on our website and send it in with your payment and shipping details. Please note the specific kit you need on your order.

Frank is now shipping kits via Priority Mail, Checks are not cashed until the kits are mailed.

In other Resin Car Works news, the MILW 50-foot composite gondola kit (15.0) is sold out.
