Discussion list shares

Over the course of a few days, I have seen many people share their latest modeling on a few discussion lists. I reached out to the modelers for permission to share their photos and comments on this blog post. This follows the spirit of our Workbench Wednesday posts but is also like a virtual RPM. I hope these photos and details inspire modelers to open boxes and build kits. Click on any image here to view a larger size. Paul Doggett shared the opening image along with kit details in his comments below. – Eric Hansmann – RCW web guy

Frank’s Models, pt 1

Resin Car Works Chief Frank Hodina was recently trackside and grabbed a batch of photos to share on the blog. Here are his notes. Click on any image here to review a larger size.

I hadn’t taken any model photos recently and thought I should document some of my HO scale fleet on a sceniced portion of the layout. I had installed new LED lights on a portion of the layout and I wanted to see how these look under 6500 Kelvin lights. We lead off with Illinois Central 8976, an old, out-of-the-box Life-Like P2K GP-7. Extras details include MU receptacles, speed recorder, air lines to the truck brake cylinders, a new brass horn, cloth sunshades, and Chet French positioned as the engineer. Chet’s a longtime friend and a retired IC engineer. Chet also knows just about everything and anything you could want to know about the IC.

January 2017 Virtual RPM

The model display room at the 2015 RPM-East event.

We issued a call for images of your latest modeling a couple of weeks ago. Prototype Rails at Cocoa Beach was about to get underway and we thought it would be fun to coordinate a Virtual RPM here on the blog for those who were unable to attend The Beach. The response was strong and we hope to do this again in a few months. The presentation may not be as impressive as entering a display room filled with railroad models, but it’s a great way to share and inspire others to move a project forward.
