Milwaukee composite gondola kit

Resin Car Works has released a new HO scale resin freight car kit, a Milwaukee Road composite gondola! This is the first time these prototypes have been available in HO scale. Visit our website for kit details and the order form.

The Milwaukee shops built 1035 of these 48′ 6″ long composite gondolas in 1937. The cars featured welded construction, a hallmark of Milwaukee rolling stock of that era.

The cars had drop bottom doors and were numbered in the 80000-81034 series. The cars were rebuilt with steel sides and solid steel floors starting in the mid-Fifties.

This is a one-piece carbody to ease assembly. Kits include Tichy Train Group ladders and brake hardware, Tahoe Model Works #110 ACF 70-ton A-3 truck sideframes, and Precision Design Company decals. Couplers are not included. Kit 15.0 is $50, plus shipping.

We do not take kit orders via email. Please print out and complete the PDF order form on our website and send it in with your payment and shipping details. Please note the specific kit you need on your order.

Frank will be on vacation soon. Early orders will be processed and shipped before he leaves for a break. Order fulfillment will resume in early April. We are now shipping kits with Priority Mail and your check isn’t cashed until the kits are mailed.

In other Resin Car Works news, early SFRD reefer kits (10.1 and 10.2) are sold out.

    1. Mike, we have no plans to issue the steel-sided rebuild of this Milwaukee gondola. The prototypes were rebuilt beyond Frank’s modeling interest.
Frank would be happy to connect interested people to hire a designer to create art for a 3D print. – Eric
