CB&Q GS gondolas

Nelson Moyer shared images from his workbench as he progressed with building fifteen GS-5, GS-7, and GS-8 Chicago, Burlington & Quincy gondolas. Here’s Nelson with more.

Here’s a recent building project for my Burlington-Washington Subdivision. The gondolas are Jerry Hamsmith and Ed Rethwisch kits of the CB&Q Class GS-5/7/8. I’m building three GS-5, three GS-7, and 9 GS-8 cars, as per the car class quantity ratio from the 1953 ORER. I’m adding Precision Scale, Hi Tech Detail, and Yarmouth Model Works detail parts, and substituting some Cal Scale brake components for Tichy.

A Milwaukee Road Automobile Box Car with Chad Boas Resin Parts

George Toman has kept busy with another freight car project. Here’s his latest work.

This project started with the intent of building a Milwaukee Road automobile box car that I had seen on display by Chad Boas at the 2015 Collinsville RPM meet. Little did I know at the time that there were at least four versions of these cars. I chose to build a PS-1 and a GATC version. Here’s a look at both prototypes, with the PS-1 on the left and the GATC car on the right.

New kits at RPM Chicagoland!

The Resin Car Works minions have been working hard in preparation for the upcoming RPM Chicagoland meet October 20-22 in Lisle, IL. Yes, those dates are at the end of this week. Parts have come together, instructions are written, and many boxes have been filled with the goods. We look forward to debuting two new HO scale resin freight car kits!
