Workbench Wednesday

Bill Welch sent a recent update with these photos. Here’s the scoop from Bill.

I am going to really try to not start any new models this year until I finish several of the many projects I have underway. Here is a step toward completing a Savannah & Atlanta ex-FEC rebuilt boxcar using styrene and Westerfield parts.

The model will be completed with one door open to reveal the wood interior. The floor is individual boards that have been distressed. PanPastels and colored pencils will be used to age the interior.

I started this project years ago but am embarrassed to admit how many.

Semi-Scale Coupler Boxes

Resin Car Works announces a new part! These are cast resin, semi-scale coupler boxes designed to work with the Kadee #158 whisker semi-scale coupler. These HO scale parts can be used to upgrade your freight car models. These are the same coupler boxes that were included in the 2017 RPM Chicagoland gift that folks have been asking about.

Check out the Resin Car Works Decals and Parts page for more details and ordering information.

I know Detail Associates offers brake wheel and gears but they are getting hard to find and they are not a finely rendered as the Kadee parts.

Workbench Wednesday

Shapeways printed HO scale Klasing brake wheels.

We kick off a new blog feature with this photo. Every now and then an image will show up on Wednesday for a look at something on our workbench. The photo could be for an upcoming kit, or model progress by one of our RCW minions, or something cool we found, like these Klasing brake wheels on Shapeways.
