We use resources to push many of our modeling projects forward. Prototype photos assist our understanding of hardware use and placement, weathering, and lettering. Prototype data from Official Railway Equipment Registers, Authorization For Expenditures (AFE), and ICC Valuation details guide efforts to add rolling stock, locomotives, and structures to reflect the prototype scene in the point in time we set for our modeling.

FGEX reefer mini-kit update
George Toman sent an update on his Fruit Growers Express reefer project. It’s moving along nicely!
I am finally catching up with spring projects around the house. It’s nice to return to the workbench and work on the FGEX mini-kit from the 2018 Chicagoland RPM Meet. Resin Car Works also released this as Mini-Kit 2.01, which is not currently available. I also have some new weathering products on the bench, too.

Roof details
Bill Welch has been busy on the workbench. He sent notes and images on improving a kit roof to make it look like a Hutchins. Here’s Bill with the details.
Here is my attempt to model a Hutchins roof using the very basic roof Funaro & Camerlengo provides with their sweet little D&H boxcar kit.
