It’s been quiet around the RCW cave lately. Frank loaded up the family and headed south to soak up some sun and avoid the last of winter in the Midwest. He’s returned and has been processing kit orders that have arrived through March. If you sent an order in March, it may be getting attention just now.
I’ve been busier than expected with lots of RPM-East tasks. As one of the event organizers, there’s always new problems to solve in the weeks leading up to the event. We seemed to have more issues than usual this year. I’ve posted personal experiences and links to the photo gallery on my DesignBuildOp blog.
We thought an update was appropriate so no one would think we ran off and joined a circus. More blog posts will be cranked out soon and there could be another surprise. You never know.
Pete Hall has been busy working on HO scale steam locomotive models. He sent photos and details on how he adds a speaker and extra weight to the boiler. Here’s Pete with more.
This began with a task to install sound in a CB&Q Mikado. The tender cavity is small because of the deep coal bunker, so the electronics fills that space and precludes installing my standard 27mm speaker. I decided to install a 691-1291 Bowser twin-sugar-cube speaker in the boiler.
I got this C&NW Accurail gondola kit decorated by 5th Avenue Car Shops in a trade a few years ago and finally decided to assemble it. After a quick look around, it appeared to match the C&NW prototype close enough.
Resin Car Works has issued a limited edition of a HO scale acid tank car kit with DuPont decals. The model is from our Kit 1.0 releases but this DuPont version had not been produced. We only have decals for 35 kits so these will go quickly. Visit the website for details and the order form.
